When things get stormy in your life (as they do from time to time), you remember those who, after they see that your flame is dimming, cup their hands around it to protect it, don’t you?

Those special moments usually feel even more moving and remarkable when those who come to your aid are not your close relatives or friends, right?

Today’s story is about one such person. Her name is Jolene Nimalovitch. A good number of years ago, she generously cupped her hands around my flame as it was suddenly and rapidly dimming.

Here’s what happened: for reasons which are still somewhat unclear, I was suddenly unable to get financing for my car. You’ve likely heard stories of good and gainfully employed folks who get hit by a financial mini-tsunami (or 3 😅) that makes their credit score drop, and who then have a hard time having their story heard by traditional credit lenders. Well, that was me one day a good number of years ago.

The good news was that two good things came out of that setback. First, I got to meet the heroine of today’s story, Jolene. She did something that, in my experience, was uncommon for most lenders back then: she genuinely listened to my story. Then, she created a way to help me finance my car.

Second, I’m pretty sure that my experience with Jolene eventually inspired one of our to-date most popular campaigns:

Who would you rather meet with?
Most banks first ask, “What’s your salary?”
At mint mortgage, we first ask, “What’s your story?”

Because Jolene was such a great person 💝🥇 and a legit force for good (I feel you’d likely use similar words to describe Jolene upon meeting her), we stayed in touch over the years.

One thing led to another, and today I’m super happy to tell you that Jolene is joining the mint mortgage crew!!

(Yes, you’ve just got one more genuine helper to lean on at mint!!)

Over to you: Can we get a “Welcome aboard!” for Jolene?!

Air hugs until we can bear hugs,
Sarah Sloane
